Have these three things ready
- The correct data cube. Match it to the project or folder you encrypted. A date and a short note about the contents help.
- Its matching password. LockerCube does not store it. If you created several cubes with different passwords, check that you have the right one.
- LockerCube for your computer. Windows and macOS downloads are available on the product page.
An access message or email does not replace the password. Keep both where you can find them again, while keeping the password separate from links shared publicly.
Try the full route back to your files
- Use the information you received when storing the data cube to find and download the online copy.
- Open the encrypted file with LockerCube and enter its matching password.
- Check the contents after decryption. Open at least one expected file and make sure it is the version you wanted.
- Keep the files you need in a deliberately chosen location. Use an additional copy for your check when you want to preserve existing original files.
A practical example
You encrypted the finished photos from a project and stored the cube online. Six months later, you need the photos again. Your contents note names the project and the version. Download the matching cube, open it with its password and check one of the photos.
If you stored several versions, compare their names and contents. The most recent download date alone does not tell you when the files inside the cube were created. A clear note makes finding the right copy much easier.
The password and expiry date matter
LockerCube cannot reset a forgotten password. Without the matching password, support cannot recover the contents of the data cube either.
Storage also has a fixed period: the free starting tier lasts 30 days and paid tiers last one year. Without active renewal, the online cube is deleted after expiry. Arrange renewal or download while it is still available.
For another copy, see the guides to encrypting a folder and cloud storage without a subscription.
Questions about this
Is the download link enough to open my files?
No. You also need the matching password and LockerCube to open the encrypted data cube.
Can support recover a deleted cube or replace its password?
Support cannot replace a forgotten password. The online data cube is deleted after expiry without renewal. Plan access before its expiry date.
